After spending more than two months on the run in Cambridge, Zatara was finally trapped by Sue Wear and brought to safety. When she arrived, she was completely shut down—scared, exhausted, and bearing wounds around her neck consistent with having been tied or chained.

With time, structure, and safety, Zatara has begun to truly thrive in her foster home. She quickly learned the routine, claimed a favorite bed, and now watches the world around her with quiet curiosity. She is still learning to feel comfortable when her favorite people are out of sight, but with patience and consistency, she continues to blossom—a testament to her gentle, resilient spirit after surviving more than most dogs ever should.

Zatara will do best in a quiet home with people who are around often and willing to move at her pace. She thrives with a calm, confident canine companion and does well with other dogs, communicating clearly and appropriately when she doesn’t want to engage in play. With the right environment and support, Zatara will make a deeply loyal and tender companion.
