Welcome to For the Love of Dogs Vermont

Our Mission

For the Love of Dogs Vermont is a foster-based, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization run by dedicated volunteers. We are a group of like-minded animal advocates who have become the voice for homeless and abandoned dogs from Vermont and the South. Through a thorough application process, our goal is to find the right dog for the right family. In addition, we offer training support and expert advice post-adoption if needed. We adopt out family-friendly dogs of all breeds at all ages from puppies to seniors. We find dogs for people who have served in the military and have PTSD. In addition we offer and donate dog food and vetting for people who have fallen on hard financial times.

Who We Are

We are a network of people with more than 40 years of rescue experience. For the Love of Dogs Vermont is run entirely by volunteers and relies on donations and adoption fees to support its programs.

For the Love of Dogs Vermont works to rescue dogs at risk of being euthanized in "high-kill" shelters in Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana, and Tennessee.

For many in the south, spay/neuter laws do not exist, and the dog overpopulation problem is critical. To date, with massive amounts of coordinating and collaborating and endless hours of dedication from the rescuers, fosters, transporters, volunteers, and donors, FLOD VT rescues approximately 800 dogs per year. Our goal is to save more.

For the Love of Dogs Vermont is a registered non-profit 501(c)3. You can support our efforts through adoption or donation.
