Thor is a 9-year-old, 42-pound AKC-registered Soft Coated Wheaten Terrier (paperwork available). He was lovingly raised from a puppy by an older couple who, due to heartbreaking family circumstances and a housing change that did not allow pets, were forced to make the difficult decision to rehome him. We welcomed him into our care to help him find the perfect next chapter.

Thor would thrive in a quiet home with a single older gentleman or an older couple looking for a loyal companion. He has naturally bonded with the men in our household and clearly enjoys male companionship — he’s happiest when he has his “person” nearby. He would make an excellent sidekick for someone who spends a lot of time on the road or working with their hands — he absolutely loves riding in the truck and would proudly sit shotgun as your right-hand canine.

Thor is fantastic with other dogs and enjoys their company. He has shown curiosity toward our rescue cat, greeting her with a wagging tail and his adorable signature “woo-woo” vocalization, hoping she’ll eventually come out to play. (If you ask him for a “woo,” he’ll sweetly offer his soft little “woo, woo, woo!”)

He loves the snow and outdoor adventures, though rain isn’t quite his favorite. Thor responds to his name almost every time and walks beautifully on leash. Like many Wheaten Terriers, he may counter-surf if something especially tempting catches his nose — but overall, he’s a well-mannered and easy companion.

Thor would do best in an adult-only home, as he has shown that he is not comfortable around children. In the right calm, structured environment, he will be a deeply devoted and affectionate companion.
