Soldier is as sweet and loyal as they come! This handsome black German Shepherd loves long walks, a good game of fetch, and soaking up all the love his people can give. He’s great with kids and other dogs, and while he hasn’t been officially cat tested yet, he’s shown good manners—he even ignores the neighbor’s chickens on the fence line!

Soldier’s road hasn’t been easy. After spending four years with one family, he was surrendered to a North Carolina shelter, adopted out, and then heartbreakingly left tied to a pole in northern Vermont—all within ten days. When he arrived in rescue, he was scared, confused, and battling a respiratory illness. But with care and kindness, Soldier made a full recovery and is now thriving—running, playing, and rediscovering joy with his foster siblings.

He’s crate trained, potty trained, and walks beautifully on a leash. Soldier would do best with an active family who understands and appreciates the intelligence, loyalty, and needs of the German Shepherd breed.

After everything he’s been through, Soldier is ready for what he truly deserves—a forever home where he’s loved, secure, and part of the family.
