Great Pyrenees
Female
Nana is a beautiful example of a livestock guardian breed done right. This 2-year-old Great Pyrenees, weighing about 80 pounds, is loyal, thoughtful, and quietly devoted to the people she trusts. She would thrive with a family that understands and appreciates Great Pyrenees breeds and is committed to continuing her growth with patience and consistency. Experience with GP is preferred.
Nana is kid- and cat-friendly and can do well with other dogs when introductions are done thoughtfully. She is very strong and is a nervous girl so no kids under 10. True to her guardian instincts, she prefers meeting new friends on leash so she can practice her polite manners and feel secure. She loves peaceful walks in the woods on a long leash and truly shines in calmer, quieter environments. Busy, crowded areas with lots of dogs and people can still awaken her protective nature, so she’ll benefit from continued guidance and positive reinforcement in those situations.
At home, Nana is a calm and loyal companion. She has made wonderful progress. Once unsure about stairs and thresholds, she now confidently navigates the entire house and even enjoys outings to the local pet store. She knows basic commands like “sit,” “paw,” and “off,” and while her recall is very typical of a Pyr’s independent spirit, she responds well to gentle handling, a leash, and a kind voice.
Nana is a sensitive, sweet soul who blossoms with soft tones, patience, and positive reinforcement. With structure, understanding, and love, she will be an incredibly devoted companion for a family who values the steady, watchful heart of a Great Pyrenees.
